Fascinus, from the Latin fascinare, means to bewitch, entrance, fascinate. The divine phallus, an ancient motif found in cultures throughout the world, is considered a good luck charm. Granting fertility, ramping up desire, and warding off the evil eye, these beautiful objects were meant to adorn and to be adored. 

Some lore has it that the symbol of an erect penis was a way to distract someone coming to curse you. The ejaculate was meant to to squirt into the evil-wishers face, thus interrupting their abilities to give you the dreaded 'evil eye.'
